If the pedal feels normal but the vehicle doesn’t slow as it used to—often after hills, towing, or repeated hard stops—you may be experiencing brake fade. Overheated pads and fluid temporarily reduce braking effectiveness.

Allow the brakes to cool and seek service to address pad selection, rotor condition, cooling, and a fluid flush with the correct DOT specification to restore consistent performance.

Brake Fluid Leak or Low Level

Slick, amber fluid under a wheel, along a brake line, or near the firewall suggests a leak. A steadily dropping reservoir level can indicate worn pads or an active hydraulic leak that compromises pressure.

Do not top off with the wrong fluid or ignore the loss—brake fluid is hygroscopic and absorbs moisture over time. Any suspected leak or contaminated fluid calls for immediate inspection and repair.
